Opdenergy obtains Administrative Authorizations for five photovoltaic plants

3 November 2018

With 250 MW of power, the projects will be located in Extremadura, Andalucía and Aragon.

The multinational Opdenergy, that focuses its activity on the production of energy assets, managing all its phases (development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance), has obtained the necessary licenses for the construction of five photovoltaic plants in Extremadura, Andalucía and Aragon, with a total power of 250 MW. The permits arrive before October 15, the deadline set by the Ministry for the Energy Transition for the accreditation of the projects identified in the 2017 Energy Auction. These projects will generate electricity equivalent to the consumption of more than 130,000 homes, which will allow avoiding the emission of about 200,000 tCO2 per year, according to the emission factors published by the Spanish Office of Climate Change (OECC).

This achievement represents a new milestone in the strategy of Opdenergy, strengthening and reinforcing its presence in the photovoltaic market in Spain, where the company was awarded 200 MW in the renewable auction held in July 2017.
These photovoltaic plants, whose commissioning is expected by the end of 2019, are the first of a project portfolio distributed throughout the national territory in different stages of promotion, that will respond both to the auction remuneration regime and to the sale of energy through PPA (Power Purchase Agreements).

The recent achievements of the company also include the construction beginning of 144 MW in Mexico, a country where the company has established itself as a benchmark; as well as the block of 176 GWh/year awarded in Chile, whose construction is estimated to begin in 2019.

Opdenergy points out the success of closing the energy contracting for more than 500 MW globally during the last two years, which is a result of an accurate strategy of diversification and internationalization that will allow them to grow organically and to continue increasing their current development portfolio of more than 5 GW.
