Multinational firm Opdenergy, which specializes in the development, finance, construction and operation of renewable assets, confirms today its entry into the wind business with the construction of its first wind farm in the town of La Estrella, located in the region of O’Higgins, Chile..
The project will have an installed capacity of 50MW, thanks to a total of 11 wind turbines supplied by the renowned manufacturer Siemens Gamesa. Specifically, the SG 4.5-145 turbines are the first of this range to be installed in a local project, making La Estrella Wind Farm one of the most modern wind farms in the country.
It is planned that the energy generated by the La Estrella wind farm will be fed into the National Electricity System (SEN) through a switching substation in the high voltage line named Quelentaro – Portezuelo. Thanks to this, the plant will be able to generate energy for more than 73,000 homes per year and will contribute to diversifying the country’s energy matrix.
The works are expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2020 and to be operational by the end of the same year.
